doula care is...

Doulas are trained professionals experienced in childbirth. They provide support for pregnancy and new motherhood and serve as a constant presence of support and emotional grounding.  As your doula I will offer education, serve as your advocate, and help you with comfort measures, mindfulness techniques, deep breathing, relaxation, movement, and positioning. During our care we will build a foundational education that dives deeply into these  areas preparing you for whatever comes your way.

A Doula is trained to use her acquired knowledge, skills, and intuition to assist you in allowing your labor to take the most peaceful course.   This healthy, harmonious approach to childbirth can most definitely can change the course of your labor, for the good, often resulting in a faster and smoother, childbirth experience.

 A Doula’s role is to support and foster a deep connection between you, your partner, and your baby. She is there to bolster the family unit. Doulas and partners work together to care for the mama, the doula bringing her knowledge of birth, and the partner bringing their love and deep connection.  Becoming a parent for the first time, or welcoming another child is a big day for dads and partners – not just mama. By providing support for dad, a doula helps him to help the mother too.

  • 39% decrease in the risk of Cesarean

  • 15% increase in the likelihood of a spontaneous vaginal birth

  • 10% decrease in the use of any medications for pain relief

  • Shorter labors

  • 38% decrease in the baby’s risk of a low five minute Apgar score

  • 31% decrease in the risk of being dissatisfied with the birth experience
